If you meet the requirements, you can try your luck to get Nintendo’s new hardware in Japan. Starting this afternoon, Friday, April 4, NCL has opened up the lottery for Nintendo Switch 2 units. All upcoming SKUs, including the Japanese Language System (Japan Only) base unit, Japanese Language System (Japan Only) Mario Kart World bundle and Multi-Language System can be chosen. This application period runs from today until Wednesday, April 16. Entrants will be notified on Thursday, April 24 via email. You won’t be able to check the results from your order history or other sections of the website. You are only able to enter the lottery for ONE of the systems on offer.
To enter, you must have been an active Nintendo Switch Online subscriber for at least one year by the time of entering the lottery and have logged 50 hours or more of game play time to your a Japanese linked Nintendo Account. You can read more details about these conditions here. As detailed in the previously linked article, the lottery via the My Nintendo Store is the only way to pick up a Multi-Language Switch 2 in Japan. All other units that will be sold throughout the country will be language locked to Japanese.
Switch 2 Accessories have also been added to the Nintendo Switch 2 hub on the My Nintendo Store. While they all (with the exception of the GCN controller) show up as “Sold Out,” further investigation reveals a message from Nintendo in most of the items saying the following:
“For the time being, the My Nintendo Store will be selling accessories to those who win the Nintendo Switch 2 console lottery. As stock is limited, we cannot guarantee that all winners will be able to purchase the items that they would like. Winners will be notified as to when they will be able to purchase these. Limit one item per customer.”
Happy hunting and good luck.
