My Nintendo Store Slammed with Traffic, Undergoing Maintenance in Japan

Just ahead of the scheduled dispatch of Nintendo Switch 2 lottery results, the My Nintendo Store online in Japan has been absolutely hammered with traffic. The online store has been in maintenance since 1:15 p.m. Japan Time with the following message from Nintendo customer support (via X):

“The My Nintendo Store is currently undergoing emergency maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your patience until it is complete.”

This was followed up by another post on X at 3:45 p.m. with the following:

“Due to heavy traffic, the My Nintendo Store is currently undergoing emergency maintenance. We apologize for the continued unavailability of the site. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your patience until the maintenance is complete.”

Some users (like myself) were able to complete purchases of some of the Nintendo Switch 2 accessories that were listed on the site. The pre-orders for these went live around noon today, which was when the store started to get slammed. All Nintendo Switch 2 accessories were to have been set aside for only those who won the lottery for the system. Even with that said, I was able to pre-order and purchase the Nintendo Switch 2 Dock and Pro Controller after multiple attempts over the course of about 40 minutes. The GameCube controller, which was not limited to winners of the My Nintendo lottery, was also available (which I also pre-ordered and purchased). Many fans, including myself, are still waiting for the lottery result email from Nintendo to see how they can proceed. As of 5:30 p.m. Japan Time, the store is still down.
General pre-orders went live across Japan today at retail both online and at physical locations. Nearly everything here is being done via lottery. Unfortunately for fans in Japan looking for a system with English support, the My Nintendo Store lottery is the only place to purchase the Multi-Language System. All other Switch 2 units being sold in Japan are Japanese-Only systems with no support for any other language.
