It was bound to happen eventually. Super Soccer, known as Super Formation Soccer in Japan, will be removed from the Super Famicom library of games on the Nintendo Switch Online service. The removal went into place on Friday, March 28 at 10:00 a.m. (JST). It’s currently not clear if Super Soccer will also be removed in other regions. No explanation was given.
This marks the first title to be pulled from NSO. Super Soccer originally hit the NSO Super Nintendo/Super Famicom service when it launched back in September 2019. For Nintendo fans, while it’s been awhile, this is nothing new. During the life of the Virtual Console, spanning from the Wii, 3DS and Wii U, a number of titles were removed from the service with little to no notice.
Update
Super Soccer will be removed in other territories on the same date.
