Indiana Jones and the Great Circle | Japanese Collector’s Edition | Photo Gallery

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is finally here and gamers and critics alike are loving it. I’m still fairly early into the game, but have been having a great time with it myself. A few months before the game released, Bethesda showed off a ridiculously ornate Collector’s Edition of the game that includes all sorts of nicknacks. Well, being a pretty big Indy fan, I went ahead and ordered the Japanese version of one of these massive sets. Let’s get into it.

Background & The Set
If you’ve followed us for any length of time, you will know that we primarily cover Nintendo related games. The Indy Jones Great Circle Collector’s Edition is almost the complete opposite of that, but I couldn’t resist. For those that don’t know, Bethesda offered a special set for the game that includes the following:
  • Jumbo Steelbook Display Case
  • New Adventure Journal
  • The Great Circle Globe with Hidden Storage
  • Allmaker Relic Replica with Game Code (Digital Premium Edition)
  • Digital Artbook
In the US, the set retailed for $189.99, while in Japan the retail price was ¥32,500 (roughly $214 USD), but I managed to get a copy off of Amazon Japan for ¥22,636 (about $149 USD). I was on the fence about this, but the lower price pushed me over the edge. When this thing arrived, I knew the outer shipping box would be big, but I wasn’t expecting something quite this large. This box safely houses everything from the set inside with a very tight fit. The shipping box also showed a number out of 28,000, so that might be the number of pieces that were allocated for Japan on this. I’m not exactly sure.

Just as a quick aside, all in all, the Japanese market for Xbox games is pretty small these days. At least with physical games. Some retailers don’t carry anything Xbox related at all, and those that do often have pretty small corners set aside for the system. While the Series X | S have not seen great success in the country, Microsoft is still pushing things like Game Pass, leaving collector’s editions like this just for the hardcore fans. Even with that said, I was pleasantly surprised to see the Japanese Indy logo and Japanese text on the packaging. I thought the box of the actual set was nicely done. It looks like Indy's suitcase, with a handle and various travel "stickers" all over it. Sure, the outer layer is a thin slip case of sorts (with an identical looking "suitcase" underneath minus the logos), but I’m glad they didn’t leave Japanese fans out on this one.

Let’s take a look closer at the set itself.
Conclusion
This Collector’s Edition for the Great Circle is pretty cool, although bulky and massive, I’m definitely going to have some trouble finding a permanent home for this thing. Regardless, the quality here is fantastic, and for now, I have no regrets. To top it off, the game is absolutely fantastic. I think having a physical piece outside of some piece of paper for the download code is a really nice touch and I hope to see more games do this kind of thing in the future. Still, I would have liked to have a regular case of the game with that gorgeous artwork.

But, let’s turn things over to you. What do you think about Indy Jones and the Great Circle? Have you been playing it? What platform, PC or Xbox? Did you pick up the collector’s edition? Sound off in the comments down below. We’d love to hear from you.
