For the first (and only) time since the Wii U days, the Yakuza series is coming back to a Nintendo platform. Yakuza Kiwami is headed to the Nintendo Switch as a download only title on October 25 (24 in some territories) worldwide. For fans in Japan, the game will be available for ¥2,980. Kiwami, a remake of the original PS2 Yakuza, was originally released on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Japan on January 21, 2016 and was followed by a worldwide release on PlayStation 4 in August 2017. You can see a trailers for the Switch version below.
For those unfamiliar, the Yakuza series did see life on the Wii U exclusively in Japan on August 8, 2013. I reviewed the game for Nintendo World Report back then and noted that it was a “solid game at its core but suffers from noticeable technical issues.” You can read that review in full over on NWR here.
