The year long 40th anniversary celebration for the Famicom is coming to a close this month and Nintendo is offering some retro classics to their Famicom and NES services on Switch around the globe. On Thursday, July 4, Nintendo is adding the following seven games to the service in Japan:
- Urban Champion
- Gomoku Narbe Renju
- Golf
- Donkey Kong Jr. Math
- Famicom Mukashibanashi: Shin Onigashima
- Mahjong
- Mach Rider
The titles in English speaking territories differ slightly, swapping out some of the Japanese exclusives. The following are available outside of Japan:
- Urban Champion
- Golf
- Donkey Kong Jr. Math
- Mach Rider
- The Mystery of Atlantis
- Solar Jetman
- Cobra Triangle
While it might seem kind of random to be receiving Famicom games in bulk on the Nintendo Switch Online service, Nintendo has been celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Famicom with a special website detailing the history of the console, online quizzes and more. This will all culminate with the release of Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition (Famicom Sekai Taikai in Japan) on July 18.
