Monster Hunter Stories is available starting today, Friday, June 14, on the Nintendo Switch. Differing from the mainline Monster Hunter games, Stories is an RPG that has players raising the monsters. The game also has a heavy focus on story with both English and Japanese voice acting, access to the game’s music, concept art and all of the updates found in the original game. Monster Hunter Stories retails for ¥2,990 in Japan ($29.99 USD in North America) and is also available in a special two pack with Monster Hunter Stories 2 for ¥5,990 on the Japanese eShop.
Monster Hunter Stories was originally released on the Nintendo 3DS on October 8, 2016 in Japan and then in September 2017 in English speaking territories. I first got to try out the game at Tokyo Game Show 2015, then at TGS 2016 before picking up the game after the show in October 2016. You can read my original set of impressions for the retail version of Stories on the 3DS over on Nintendo World Report here.
