A special event featuring the recently released Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door has kicked off in Super Mario Run. From Thursday, May 23 (4:00 p.m. Japan Time) until Thursday, June 27 at 3:59 p.m., several Paper Mario themed missions and in-game items will be available. Special missions include grabbing 150 coins in World 1-1 and defeating 13 or more Goombas in World 1-3. Other missions will be available for those that purchase or have purchased the game. The following three statues can be obtained by clearing the missions:
- Paper Mario Staute
- Goombella Statue
- Koops Statue
This isn’t the first time that special events featuring recent releases have hit Super Mario Run. The most recent event was for Princess Peach: Showtime from March to early May. In December 2023 until March, Run hosted an event with Super Mario Bros. Wonder’s Wonder Flowers. You can read our impressions of that event here or watch in the video below.
