Konami’s second baseball series, Pro Baseball Spirits has been on hiatus since the 2021 (to 2022) release, but the company revealed the next game in the franchise. Titled Pro Yakyū Spirits 2024-2025, the game is scheduled to be released at some point in 2024 on the PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.
In conjunction with Unreal Engine, Konami created an engine specifically for this game they have called the “eBaseball Engine.” Using this alongside their previous developed 3D and laser scanning technology for both players and stadiums, this next generation engine aims to produce all of the movement and sound that you find at real life baseball stadiums. It also helps power other elements of the game, including the trajectory of the ball, more realistic movements of players, the roar of the crowd and the live commentary. Given the technological leap, it is unlikely that the Pro Spirits Series will return to the Nintendo Switch with this iteration of the game. Both Pro Spirits and Power Pro Baseball have entered their 20th and 30th anniversaries respectively this year. Both games this year have the moniker “2024-2025,” clarifying Konami’s commitment to support the games on a two year release cycle.
