After being postponed in late 2023, three tournaments are coming back to Japan this spring. To kick things off, the Splatoon 2023 Koshien Championships are set to be held on March 30 and 31 to decide the best teams in Japan at the elementary school and adult (junior high school and up) level. The winners will go on to the Splatoon 3 World Championship 2024 tournament which will run on April 13 and 14. The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe World Championship 2024 tournament will also be held on the same days. Fans will be able to watch the World Championship tournaments live on YouTube or Nico Nico Video. Event pages have yet to be created, but be sure to check Nintendo's social media in the future for more information about how you can watch.
The above tournaments were all postponed as of December 7, 2023 when Nintendo received persistent threats to Nintendo employees and participants in the Splatoon 3 Koshien Championship. As a result, Nintendo also canceled Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo, which was set to host the world championships at Tokyo Big Sight in January 2024.
