The latest entry into the Mario series has gotten off to a very hot start in Japan. Super Mario Bros. Wonder sold through 668,634 physical units in its first week on the market, placing it at the top of the sales list for the week (October 16 - 23). The next game behind it was Marvel’s Spiderman 2 for the PlayStation 5 coming in with 77,348 units sold. Nintendo hardware sales were also strong, with the Switch OLED Model selling 51,931 units, the original model 5,050 units and the Switch Lite hitting 5,269 units sold.
The current sales for Wonder do not reflect digital sales, though their inclusion would likely push the game over on million units in Japan alone. For more on Super Mario Bros.
