Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a brand new 2D Super Mario title, is coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 20. This time around, a few new power-ups are introduced to change the gameplay. The big addition in Wonder are the Wonder Flowers. According to Nintendo, “These game-changing items trigger spectacular moments you have to see to believe...Witness pipes coming alive, wreak havoc as a giant spiky ball, and see even more unexpected events called Wonder Effects.” Also new to the series is the ability to transform into an elephant to “use your trunk to trounce enemies” with this surprising new power-up.
Wonder also supports up to four players with Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi and Toad confirmed playable characters. The game is a 4.5 GB download on the eShop and is currently available for pre-order. For Japan, the physical version of the game retails for ¥6,578 while the digital version sells for ¥6,500. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is also available via the Nintendo Switch Online Voucher program. The last traditional 2D Mario title to be released was New Super Mario Bros. U on the Wii U back in 2012.
