The Nintendo 64 app is getting a little more Pokémon love this month. On April 12, Pokémon Stadium 2, known simply as Pokémon Stadium in the West, is coming to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack. This marks the 22nd title to hit the service in Japan and the first N64 title to be released this year. Unlike the West, gamers in Japan are still waiting for a release of Goldeneye on the platform. The last titles to hit the service were Mario Party 1 and Mario Party 2 in November 2022.
Three articles from retro gaming magazine, 64 Dream, are also available digitally to commemorate this release. You can check those out below:
Three Pokémon Stadium titles were released on the Nintendo 64 in Japan, compared to two in the West. Using the Japanese naming conventions, Pokémon Stadium (Japan) was originally released on August 1, 1998 in Japan and followed by this sequel, Pokémon Stadium 2, on April 30, 1999. The Western Pokémon Stadium, which is the Japanese Pokémon Stadium 2, was released in the West in early 2000.
