The latest trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie gave Nintendo fans across the globe another look at what the new animated film will be bringing to the table in 2023. Fans in Japan got that and also the reveal of who will be voicing their favorite characters in Japanese. Here are the actors that are involved in the Japanese dub of the movie and some games/anime that they have been involved in:
Mario - Mamoru Miyano (Kingdom Hearts, Persona 5)
Princess Peach - Arisa Shida (Buddy Mission: BOND)
Luigi - Tasuka Hatanaka (My Hero Academia)
Bowser - Kenta Miyake (Astral Chain, God of War: Ragnarok)
Toad - Tomokazu Seki (Octopath Traveler, Paper Mario: The Origami King)
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is set to release in Japan on Friday, April 28. It’s unclear (and a bit early to know) if the movie will be available in English upon release. Animated movies from companies like Illumination typically are released in Japan with Japanese dubs as a way to appeal to kids. English versions for these kind of films are usually either rare or non-existent for theatrical releases. You can check out the Japanese dubbed trailer below.
