Super Nintendo World, the Super Mario themed section of Universal Studios Japan (USJ), has reached a benchmark - its first anniversary on March 18. Exactly one year ago, the attraction area opened to the public. To celebrate, this morning around 7:15 a.m. (Japan Time), a marching band welcomed the anniversary with tunes from the original Super Mario Bros. The CEO of Universal Studios Japan, J.L. Bonnier, “Mario” and “Luigi” were on hand for the event.
To celebrate the one year anniversary, special stickers will be given out to visitors (while supplies last) starting today until March 31. Currently, the official USJ Twitter account is holding a campaign to win a chance to visit the park for free. You simply have to follow the USJ account on Twitter and respond to their corresponding tweet for a chance to enter. You can find the tweet here.
Super Nintendo World is currently only at Universal Studios in Japan, however, it is scheduled to open in Universal Studios Hollywood in 2023.
