A new area based on Donkey Kong is set to come to Universal Studios Japan at some point in 2024. The new area is set to open adjacent to the existing Super Nintendo World area of the park. While details are sparse at this point, fans can expect a similar interactive experience to what was found in the Mario themed section of the park. A roller coaster, interactive experiences, merchandise and food are all going to be a part of the final product. The addition of this section of the park will increase Super Nintendo World by approximately 70 percent.
The team at Universal alongside of Shigeru Miyamoto are currently developing the Donkey Kong themed addition to the park. Miyamoto went on to say, "I am very happy to be able to make the world of Donkey Kong a reality following the world of Mario. I am looking forward to creating a thrilling Donkey Kong experience with the amazing team at Universal. It will take some time until it is completed, but it will be a unique area for not only people who are familiar with Donkey Kong games, but for all guests."
Super Nintendo World opened at Universal Studios in Japan earlier this year in March 18 in Osaka, Japan.
