Other Goodies
Before we get into the topic at hand today, there are a few other bit of merch that gamers in Japan can get their hands on. Nintendo is currently selling a handful of items on the Japanese My Nintendo Online Store. These can be had individually or as part of a set. Included here are the following:
- Mini Bath Towel (featuring Link’s Sailcloth design) | ¥2,420
- Hand Towel (Master Sword motif) | ¥660
- Note Pad (Hyrule Shield design) | ¥605
- Master Sword Ball Pen | ¥1,430
- Clear Pouch (Skyward Sword artwork) | ¥2,200
These items will be available while supplies last. As cool as this all was, I’m not made of money, so I passed on this one…for now…
What is This Thing?
What I did manage to pick up was this cool acrylic stand for the game. For a little bit of background here, this acrylic stand was only available through a rental/retail chain called Geo here in Japan. It was available as a pre-order bonus for gamers that opted for a physical version with this stand. It retailed for ¥6,570 ($60 USD) with the game, compared to ¥5,780 asking price at the retailer. The official retail price here in Japan is ¥6,578.
What we get here is a high quality stand that features artwork from Skyward Sword. The item itself is about the same size as a standard Switch case. For comparison sake, this stand is a little bit smaller than the stand that was included with the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity set that released last year exclusively here in Japan.
Conclusion
Overall, I’m pretty pleased with my purchase here. It wasn’t really much extra and it’s a cool collectors piece that will sit nicely on myself, forgotten. But let’s turn things over to you. Have you been playing Skyward Sword HD on the Switch? Did you get any cool Skyward Sword related merch? Be sure to sound off in the comments below, we’d love to hear from you!
