Nintendo’s next entry into the Nintendo Switch family of systems, the Nintendo Switch OLED Model, is set to hit markets worldwide on Friday, October 8. The system will retail for ¥37,980 in Japan. The new system features a larger 7-inch OLED screen, a wider adjustable stand, a dock featuring a wired LAN port, 64 GB of internal storage and better audio in handheld and tabletop modes.
Looking at the system in photos on Nintendo’s website, you can see that the form factor is nearly identical to the original Nintendo Switch unit. The main difference here is the size of the bezels - they have been slightly reduced and are being used for more screen real estate.
As with releases around the globe, the OLED Switch model will be available in either White, featuring a white dock and Joy Con, or in the traditional Neon Blue/Red color scheme with a black dock. Pre-orders have not opened up yet in Japan.
In Japan, this new model is referred to as the “Nintendo Switch YÅ«ki EL Model.” You can check out the Japanese promotional video below. Also be sure to check out our video highlighting the Splatoon 3 footage in the trailer!
