The Momotarō Dentetsu series and Konami are teaming up with the Japan Racing Association (JRA) for a special promotional game called Momotarō Dentetsu Derby. Available for free via a special website (which you can find here), the game plays in the same manner as traditional Momotarō Dentetsu titles complete with a game board, dice and the ability to travel to various locations in Japan. The main difference here is that the characters are all mounted on horseback and the locations are various horse tracks around Japan. The website opened on Monday, May 17 at 5:00 p.m. (Japan Time).
Additionally, a Twitter follow and retweet campaign is taking place via Umbai - a JRA ran account (@Umbai_Official) with an aim to make horse racing fun not only for the hardcore fans, but also for those just getting into the sport. Five winners will be picked at random to win ¥10,000 ($91.55 USD) via an EJOICA gift card. Another campaign via Umbai performed via retweets and auto-replies will also take place from May 24 to 30. A retweet will trigger a response which will show the results of a dice roll. If the number matches the winning horse from the Japan Derby (taking place May 30), users will be entered into a prize drawing. Up to ten winners will be randomly selected to win a ¥10,000 EJOICA gift card. Those living outside of Japan are not eligible to win the Twitter campaign EJOICA prizes.
Momotarō Dentetsu Showa Heisei Reiwa mo Teiban was released on November 19, 2020 and remains a Japan exclusive as of right now. The game recently crossed the three million mark for both digital and physical sales of the game. You can check out our preview of the game below.
